Rajiv Gandhi Awards Committee, Kuwait

The Rajiv Gandhi Awards Committee [RGAC] was constituted in Kuwait in 1997 when a group of prominent Indians under the leadership of Markos Williams came together to foster the legacy of the Late Indian Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi.

The RGAC was formally registered with the Indian Embassy in Kuwait and duly recognised by the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, New Delhi, headed by Mrs. Sonia Gandhi.

The RGAC conducts Seminars, presents the Rajiv Gandhi awards for Excellence, conducts Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Day Events and organises Social Welfare activities for the benefit of the weaker sections of the Indian community.

"Rajiv Gandhi was a visionary who sought to modernise India and lead it into the 21st century. Destiny denied him the opportunity to do still more for India than he achieved in the five short years he was at the helm of its affairs. By upholding the principles that were dear to him and concentrating our work in the area he deemed to be of the utmost importance, we seek to keep alive the legacy he bequeathed us".
