We believe in the words of Rajiv Gandhi that "India is the cradle of a great civilisation - an ancient and advanced civilisation. We are its inheritors. Not so long ago, we were amongst the richest nations of the world. Adventurers, sea-farers and discoverers sought out and faced great dangers to find India decause of the wealth. It is that India that we must restore today".

We believe along with Mrs. Sonia Gandhi that "Rajiv Gandhi was a visionary who sought to modernise India and lead it into the 21st century. Destiny denied him the opportunity to do still more for India than he achieved in the five short years he was at the helm of its affairs. By upholding the principles that were dear to him, and concentrating our work in areas he deemed to be of the utmost importance, we seek to keep alive the legacy he bequeathed us".

We believe that by identifying those individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the India community in Kuwait and recognizing them with the Rajiv Gandhi Awards for Excellence, we will only spur them to attain greater heights in their service to the community and inspire others to follow suit for the overall benefit of our fellow citizens.
